Our Story

Every great cause begins with a personal story. Here's why we're passionate about fighting Alzheimer's disease through the game we love.

Why We Started This Tournament

My name is Lukas Speranza, and on October 13, 2019, I lost my grandfather to Alzheimer's disease. It was an incredibly difficult time for my family and me, and it opened my eyes to just how deeply this illness impacts not only those diagnosed, but also their loved ones.

When Michael and I were introduced to DECA, we saw it as an opportunity to channel our passions and experiences into something meaningful. Both of us share a love for golf, so we decided to combine that passion with our drive to make a difference.

That is how The Memory Drive was born. It is a way for us to honor my grandfather, raise awareness, and support the fight against Alzheimer's, all while bringing people together for a sport we love.

Our Mission

We believe that by bringing together our community through the sport of golf, we can make a meaningful impact in supporting families affected by Alzheimer's disease. Every swing, every hole, and every dollar raised helps provide essential care and support services to those who need them most.

Our tournament isn't just about golf – it's about hope, community, and the belief that together we can make a difference for the millions of families living with this challenging disease.

Our Vision

We envision a world where families affected by Alzheimer's disease have access to the support, resources, and care they need. Through this meaningful tournament, we're creating a powerful moment of community action that will make a lasting impact in supporting those living with Alzheimer's and their caregivers.

Every participant becomes part of something bigger – a unified effort to honor those we've lost, support those still fighting, and contribute to better care and resources for families facing Alzheimer's.

Lukas Speranza & Michael Polygenis

We are two Grade 11 students with a shared passion for golf and a commitment to making a difference. As active DECA members, we wanted to use our skills and interests to create something meaningful for our community.

Alzheimer's is a cause that is very close to our hearts, and organizing The Memory Drive gives us the opportunity to honor those affected, raise awareness, and fundraise for the fight against this disease.

Through this tournament, we hope to bring people together, celebrate the sport we love, and contribute to a cause that truly matters.
